Flashpoint is an exciting interactive learning centre. A tour around the 12 scenarios allows visitors to have first hand experience of confronting potentially dangerous and hazardous situations in complete safety.
The centre is designed to cater for groups of all abilities from the age of 6 to 70+.
Through this effective, educational experience, young and old raise their awareness of safety through role-play and simulated activities.
The Flashpoint Lifeskills Centre has been awarded prestigious national accreditation.
We have earned LASER (Learning About Safety by Experiencing Risk) accreditation from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, only the second permanent centre in the country to do so.
RoSPA gained funding from the Department of Health to establish an accreditation scheme for both permanent centres and temporary events. The award is to recognise and assure educational excellence and operational value. In order to qualify for accredited status we had to show good practice in the areas of Partnership, Programme Management and evaluation.
The certificate was presented by John Vallender, LASER Programme Manager at RoSPA and Peter Cornall the Society's head of Water and Leisure Safety, to NCDC Councillor Arwen Folkes in a ceremony at the centre on 2nd November 2007.
