What does a guide do?
Each guide takes a small group of visitors around the scenarios, explaining the key safety messages as they go. All guides are trained and CRB ( C riminal R ecords B ureau) checked before taking groups around the centre on their own.
How much time will it take and can I fit volunteering around my other commitments?
Sessions last for 2 hours, and you can help with as many as you feel able.
Is it difficult?
No—you will soon become caught in the enthusiasm of the visitors to the centre and the other volunteers. The existing volunteers will always answer any queries and help you to gain the confidence to take groups around the centre.
How will I be trained?
Each new volunteer receives training before taking groups on their own . No -one is expected to go solo until they feel entirely confident in the role. Ongoing training ensures that the whole team keep “on message” and accurate.
